Hi, God’s word for me today is in Jeremiah 27:22 which says, “They will be taken to Babylon and there they will remain until the day I come for them,’ declares the LORD. ‘Then I will bring them back and restore them to this place.’”
The Israelites had to serve Nebuchadnezzar who was the king of Babylon. But this verse says that they would remain there until the day that the Lord came to get them. The Lord was going to bring them back and restore them. They had to go and be under Nebuchadnezzar’s rule and the Lord would restore them.
This is also a picture of us. The Israelites turned away from God and they were worshipping other gods that weren’t the true God. But God restored them. And that is a picture of us because we weren’t worshipping the one true God, we may not have been worshipping other gods but we were sinful and we didn’t follow God. And the Bible says that if you aren’t “for” God then your against Him. And we were sinful, but that is why God restored us, how? By sending His son to die on the cross for us!
Jesus restored us from our sin by dying for us, all we have to do is trust in Him. Now I’m not saying that being a christian is really easy and that we can keep on sinning,
“The law was brought in so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more, so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? (NIV 5:20-21 & Romans 6:1-3)
We are dead to are sins, so being a christian doesn’t mean continuing to sin. Christ is our example and even though we sin the Holy Spirit is working in us and Jesus’ red robe of righteousness is on each one of us. Jesus died for our sins on the cross, thank you so much Jesus.
Also others persecute us but Jesus can help us through.
Are you trusting in Jesus as your savior and example?
Grace and truth, Charity Cleveland.
