Sermon: “the cure”

Hi, the pastor didn’t really preach the gospel today, so I’m going to use the same passage but put in the gospel. And the passage was Romans 1:1-17.  And (really quick) this week is apparently missionary week so the pastor talked about the church’s missionary’s in China. Anyway Paul says that he is a servant of the gospel and how he longs to visit the Romans and impart some spiritual gift to them. Also he says that he is eager to preach the gospel to the Romans and that he is not ashamed of the gospel.

So when Paul says he is a servant of the gospel (Romans 1:1) he is saying that he will preach it everywhere. He has to preach the gospel, and we should be servants of the gospel, gospel means good news, you might wonder what good news the gospel is. It is that Jesus died for our sins on the cross, He came down from Heaven and He was born of a virgin and lived a perfect life, and most importantly He died for our sins. Anyway we should carry that news to others in places that need the gospel, such as China. And we should also carry it to places that don’t particularly need the gospel because it is always good to preach the gospel no matter where you are.

Paul also says that He longs to visit the Romans and impart a spiritual gift to them. And in the verses right after that one he says, ”

That is, that you an I may be mutually encouraged by each others faith.” (NIV Romans 1:12)

He wants them to be encouraged by each other faith, and because Paul is a servant of the gospel, he would preach the gospel to them.

And the last 2 things that I brought out are that Paul was eager to share the gospel with them (of course) and that Paul was not ashamed of the gospel. Paul was eager to share the gospel with them because he was a bond servant of the gospel, which means we should share the gospel with others, why? Because it is good news, how? Because we are forgiven of our sins, Jesus died for us and He had our sins on Him, so we are free of our sins.

So as I was saying Paul was eager to share the gospel with them. And the last thing I mentioned was that Paul was not ashamed of the gospel. I said yesterday in my post that we should be ashamed of our sins, but as Paul says we should not be ashamed of the gospel. The gospel is the good news, and some people might not get it and mock us or even persecute us but we shouldn’t be ashamed of preached how Jesus died for our sins!

It is the most important message, the muslims think that they have a gospel of their own, but because their “gospel” isn’t good news it isn’t really a gospel at all. The good news of the true gospel is that Jesus died for our sins on the cross.

Are you believing in the true gospel message?

Grace and truth, Charity Cleveland.
