Hi, God’s word for me today is in Jeremiah 11:19 which says, “I had been like a gently lamb to the slaughter; I did not realize that they had plotted against me, saying, “Let us destroy the tree and its fruit; let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name be remembered no more.”
Jeremiah is talking here and in the verse before this one he says that the Lord had reveled their plot to him. And this was their (the Israelites) plot. But there is another reason that this verse is here, it’s to point forward to the cross. Jesus was led like a lamb to the slaughter, He was silent this is a clear picture of Jesus.
Isaiah 53:7 says,
“He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth.
Jesus died for our sins on the cross, He saved us from our sins so that we wouldn’t have to go through the wrath of God. Because His blood is on us (spiritually), in God’s eyes, we are sinless because of Jesus’ sacrifice. Of course we still sin, but Jesus’ blood atones for our sins. But that doesn’t mean that we can just keep sinning because Jesus died for our sins, ”
Now the law came in to increase the trespass, but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, so that, as sin reigned in death, grace also might reign through righteousness leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it? Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?
We are dead to our sins and alive in Christ.
Are you trusting in Jesus?
Grace and truth, Charity Cleveland.
