The Maker of all things

Hi, God’s word for me today is in Jeremiah 10:16 which says, “He who is the Portion of Jacob is not like these, for he is the Maker of all things, including Israel, the tribe of his inheritance the Lord Almighty is his name.”

When this verse says that “he who is the Portion of Jacob is not like these” Jeremiah means that Jesus is not like all the idols of the nations they were wood and gold and silver but they weren’t alive, God is the only true God. Jesus is the only one true God and all of the idols are just things that man-made, we don’t really have that kind of idol today but we can have idols of different things.

An example of an idol is a car, you might adore cars and you might be spending too much money on one that you want or you could reject everything else in life for that car. You might say that you don’t have a car as an idol but you might have your house as an idol. Anything can be an idol. But that is why Jesus came to die for our sins.

Jesus died on the cross to save us from our sins, if you know your history in how people used to have idols you know that the “gods” were always needing sacrifices and they needed to have things to “calm their anger”. But God already had that sacrifice, Jesus was that sacrifice. God doesn’t require a lot of sacrifices many times a day, He already sent the one sacrifice that atoned for all of our sins, thank you Jesus for dying for our sins.

Are you trusting in Jesus’ amazing sacrifice on the cross that atoned for all of our sins?

Grace and truth, Charity Cleveland.
