Hi, God’s word for me today is in Isaiah 59:2 which says, “But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear.”
Separated from God? What is that supposed to mean? Well when Jesus hadn’t died they had to offer sacrifices because their sins kept them from God, but sacrifices didn’t really atone for their sins, it only pointed forward to Jesus. So God accepted it, but their sins did keep them from God although for us we can talk to God, the curtain is torn in two.
He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world.
When it says “propitiation” it mean atonement, Jesus is the atonement for our sins, although that doesn’t mean that we have a license to sin, ”
Now the law came in to increase the trespass, but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, so that, as sin reigned in death, grace also might reign through righteousness leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it? Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?
So we are dead to sin and alive in Christ, because we are dead to sin we shouldn’t just keep sinning because Jesus has forgiven our sins.
Do you believe in Jesus and that He died to make it so that we aren’t separated from God?
Grace and truth, Charity Cleveland.
