Come all you who are thirsty…

Hi, God’s word for me today is in Isaiah 55:1 which says, “Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost.”

Is Isaiah talking physical here because I don’t think that there really is a place where you can buy something with no money, so what is he talking about? Well there are places that give food to the poor, but that isn’t what Isaiah is talking about. He is talking about how God takes care of His people. God takes care of us and in the desert the Israelites needed food and water and God provided that for them, and He also made it so that their clothes and shoes (sandals) lasted for a long time. Isaiah is saying that God provides.

For them it means that God provides. But for us it is a picture of the cross. Jesus was thirsty for us, ”

After this, Jesus, knowing that all was now finished, said (to fulfill the Scripture),“I thirst.” (ESV John 19:28)

Jesus was thirsty so that we don’t have to be. When I say that I mean we don’t have to be thirsty spiritually we will be thirsty physically, but Jesus has satisfied our thirst so that we should want to shout it to everyone we know, thank you Jesus.

Jesus was also hungry for us, He came down from heaven to die for us and take our sins away and give us His red robes of righteousness.

Are you thristy? Then drink from Jesus.

Grace and truth, Charity Cleveland.
