Hi, God’s word for me today is in Isaiah 53:5 which says, “But he was pierced for our transgressions, crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.”
Pierced for our transgressions, let me think who does that remind me of? Jesus! For them they could look forward to someone taking on their sins instead of having to sacrifice bulls and lambs. There would be one sacrifice that was perfect that would atone for all of their sins. Who was this person? Jesus! For them they could look forward to Him, but for us we can accept His offering as one that atoned for all of our sins, thank you so much Jesus.
Jesus is our sacrifice, He died for us,
“He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world.” (ESV 1 John 2:2)
Jesus is our atonement, He took on all of our punishment. He was pierced for us on the cross. His punishment brought us peace, His wounds healed us. He was thirsty so that we could drink. He completely denied Himself and gave it all to us, we need to be thankful that Jesus died for us, not take it for granted. Because no matter how sinful your past is if you trust in Jesus, you are free of it.
That doesn’t mean you can keep sinning because Jesus is going to forgive it, not only are we sons and daughter of God and we shouldn’t want to sin against God, but we are dead to our sins and alive in Christ. (Romans 5:20-21 & Romans 6:1-3)
Do you believe that Jesus died for you and forgave your sins no matter how sinful your past and that we are dead to our sins and alive in Christ?
Grace and truth, Charity Cleveland.
