Hi, God’s word for me today is in Isaiah 52:9 which says, “Burst into songs of joy together, you ruins of Jerusalem, for the Lord has comforted his people, He has redeemed Jerusalem.”
Burst into songs? That doesn’t make sense, why would the ruins of Jerusalem shout for joy? Well the verse says they would because the Lord has redeemed them. And also He comforted His people, wouldn’t that make you rejoice? I guesse so. Anyway for them the Lord comforted them, and He bought them back or redeemed them. That would make me sing songs of joy.
Since we talked about what it means to them, that they are redeemed and comforted, this is how it connects to the gospel. We were in the ruins of sin. We couldn’t get out of it ourselves. But Jesus came along and He redeemed us on the cross, He comforted us, and He took our sins on Him in exchange for His red robes of righteousness. How did He do this? On the cross. On the cross He died for us, so that we could go free of our sins, thank you Jesus.
Jesus died on the cross for our sins, He paid the penalty, ”
He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world. (ESV 1 John 2:2)
Jesus is the atonement for our sin, thank you Jesus.
Are you trusting that Jesus died for your sins on the cross?
