Hi, God’s word for me today is in Isaiah 23:1 which says, “Wail, O ships of Tarshish! For Tyre is destroyed and left without house or harbor. From the land of Cyprus word has come to them.”
So here Isaiah is talking about the destruction of Tyre, and how the ships of Tarshish should wail, but we can apply this to us, because we wailed in our sin (if we realized how bad it was) and we didn’t have a harbor or a house to go to, but then Jesus came to earth for one purpose, which was to die for our sins, even though He was (and is) perfect, and even though we were sinful (of course we still sin, but the Holy Spirit is in us, and He is making us more like Jesus) He still died for us, why? So that we could go free of our sins, and so that we can be children of God, ”
But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God. (ESV John 1:12 it goes on to the next verse but I stopped here)
So we are the children of God because Jesus died for us, and He gave us the right to be the sons (and daughters) of God, and He cleansed our sins, but that doesn’t mean that we can go on sinning, Paul tells us clearly that we shouldn’t in Romans 5:20-21 and & Romans 6:1-3,
“Now the law came in to increase the trespass, but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, so that, as sin reigned in death, grace also might reign through righteousness leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it? Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?
So we are dead to our sins, thank you Jesus.
Do you believe that Jesus died for your sins?
