Hi, God’s word for me today is in Ecclesiastes 5:1 which says, “Guard your steps when you go to the house of God. Go near to listen rather than to offer the sacrifice of fools, who do not know that they do wrong.”
So here Solomon is saying that we basically shouldn’t go to God and say “hey man do you think that maybe you could give me everything I ask for”, but also we can apply this to us, because we (on our own) cannot go to God and offer a sacrifice that will forgive all of our sins, ”
“What to me is the multitude of your sacrifices? says the LORD; I have had enough of burnt offerings of rams and the fat of well-fed beasts; I do not delight in the blood of bulls, or of lambs, or of goats. (ESV Isaiah 1:11)
So we cannot offer a lamb or a bull or a goat or anything like that, but we do have a sacrifice that we didn’t make, He chose to come down from Heaven and to become a human even though He was (and is) creator of everything and the God of everything and even though He was (and is) perfect, His name is Jesus, and He, out of His love for us, (but not because of anything we have or ever will do) he died for us on the cross, and He had all of our sins on Him when He died, and then He was buried and was in the grave for 3 days, but on the third day He rose, and our sins are still in the grave, but that doesn’t mean that we can keep sinning because we are forgiven of all of our sins, Paul says it perfectly,”
Now the law came in to increase the trespass, but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, so that, as sin reigned in death, grace also might reign through righteousness leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it? Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? (ESV Romans 5:20-21 & Romans 6:1-3)
So we are dead to our sins because Jesus died on the cross, thank you so much Jesus for dying on the cross for our sins.
Do you believe that Jesus died on the cross so that you might be forgiven of your sins?
