We should fear the Lord… the good kind of fear.

Hi, Gods word for me today is in Proverbs 1:7 which says,” The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.”

So Solomon is saying that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge (I know your thinking duh Charity that’s what the verse says, but I didn’t know any other way to explain it), and you may be wondering what he means by fear, and he means that we should fear the Lord like a child fears his parents (if you can call it fear), like a respectful fear, so you could call it the good kind of fear, the bad kind of fear would be fearful that he was going to do something to you at any moment (paranoia) or the fear that your going to get caught doing something bad (which if you are sinning then God knows because God knows and sees everything).

Also he says that fools despise wisdom and discipline, and God does discipline (also God is certainly wise, because He created everything, and He is wisdom), He disciplines us like a parent would (should) discipline a child (although he disciplines us in different ways, I mean he disciplines us lovingly.

And we shouldn’t be annoyed when he disciplines us it is out of love, and we know Jesus loves us because He died on a cross to save us from our sins,”

God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”(Romans 5:8 ESV)

So Christ loved (and loves) us enough that he died in our place on the cross, thank you Jesus, for dying for us.

  1. Hello Charity. I just received an email notification that you had subscribed to my Twitter feed. I am so happy to see that you have dedicated your life to the Lord at such a young age. I also have a daughter who is now a young adult. While I raised her knowing God’s Word, at this current time, she is rather backslidden from the Lord in some serious ways. Charity, don’t ever give up; don’t ever stop. Remain faithful to the Lord all of your days, one day at a time. Don’t worry about tomorrow; just be faithful to continue what you are doing, today. GBY!
