Hi, I wanted to share something that our family learned at our worship tonight, the verse is Exodus 37:17 which says,
“They made the lampstand of pure gold and hammered it our, base and shaft; its flower like cups, buds and blossoms were of one piece with it.”
So when it says that they hammered out the lampstand that is a picture of Jesus because Jesus was beaten he was hammered (or nailed) on a cross and in Isaiah 53:(part of)10 says, “Yet it was the Lord‘s will to crush him and cause him to suffer.”
So that is just like Jesus and the lampstand because the lampstand was beaten it was hammered, and that was probably the hardest way to shape something out of gold, just like it was the hardest (and only) way to pay for our sins.
So the lampstand is a picture of Jesus because Jesus was hammered on the cross just like the lampstand was hammered into shape, although because the lampstand was a thing it falls short of Jesus because Jesus was a person.
We should thank God everyday for being hammered on a cross and being beaten for our sins.
