A source of confidence

Hello, God’s word for me today is in Ezekiel 29:16 which says,

“Egypt will no longer be a source of confidence for the people of Israel but will be a reminder of their sin in turning to her for help. Then they will know that I am the Sovereign LORD.’”
Okay, this verse tells us that Israel had tried to turn to Egypt for help instead of turning to God. The Lord was then going to destroy Egypt so that Egypt could be a reminder of the Israelites sins and show the Israelites that God was (and is) the one true God. Egypt was destroyed because not only was Egypt prideful (it says so in the earlier verse) but the Israelites were depending upon man instead of God as their refuge.

The Egyptians died because of their (and the Israelites) sins, the Lord destroyed them because of it. We were going to die because of our sins too. We were sinners and we were going to die because of all of the sin we committed. Unless we became suddenly perfect or we had a perfect sacrifice, we were going to die.

But that is why Jesus provided that sacrifice for us! God sent a sacrifice down from heaven that would atone perfectly for us. But what was that sacrifice, or should I say who was that sacrifice? Jesus was that sacrifice. Jesus who was (and is) the son of God (and God Himself). He died for our sins, and He didn’t just die for our sins, He died on a criminals cross for our sins. Thank you Jesus.

Now the question is why did Jesus die for our sins? Why did He sacrifice His life for us? The answer is in 1 John 3:16,

“This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.” (NIV)

Jesus loved us so much that He died for our sins. He loved us so much, that was His reason He died for our sins. How amazing is it that Jesus would die for our sins. He loved us enough to die for our sins and we should love Him enough to worship Him and praise Him. Also we should share the good news of the Gospel with others.

We should trust in what Jesus did for us on the cross. Man might betray us but God never leaves or forsakes us.

Are you trusting in Jesus?

Grace and truth, Charity Cleveland.
